This was a very challenging and exciting project for both the architects and the structural engineers. The site had a very narrow lot with a steep 25' drop off requiring the use of steel columns and girders to accommodate the owner's requirement of providing large balcony decks for the enjoyment of spectacular views. The living/bedroom areas relationship in this house was designed in reverse to the common practice. The living area was designed on the 3rd level, bedrooms on the 2nd level and a large enclosed den on the 1st level, taking advantage of the site's beautiful natural landscape.
